pulse 2.1 pricing
In conjunction with the release of Pulse 2.1, the pricing for Pulse commercial licenses is being updated. These changes reflect the vast improvements in Pulse 2.0 and 2.1, in particular for larger installations.
questions
It's important to us that our pricing is fair and up front. If you have any questions or concerns about the changes described on this page, or Pulse pricing in general, please do not hesitate to contact us. We're more than happy to help!
effective date
These changes will come into effect on the 7th of March, 2010. All new license purchases before that date will come under the existing pricing scheme. All renewals for licenses purchased prior to that date (including existing customers) will be unchanged for the 2010 calendar year, and after that will have any price increases capped. See below for details.
what will stay the same?
The Pulse pricing system itself will use the same structure as it always has: there will be three license tiers, based on the number of agents required. All commercial licenses will include full functionality, allow an unlimited number of users and an unlimited number of projects.
Renewal pricing will work in the same fashion: a renewal will cost 50% of the price of a new license. Renewals will extend the existing support expiry date by 12 months. Customers with active licenses (i.e. where support has not expired) will be entitled to priority support and free upgrades.
what will change?
The following changes will be applied to Pulse pricing:
- Agent Allowances: current commercial licenses include one extra agent to allow for the default local agent (i.e. an agent running on the master). This is no longer necessary, as since version 2.0 it has been possible to delete this default agent and use another remote agent in its place. In the new pricing scheme the Standard, Professional and Enterprise tiers will allow 1, 5 and 15 agents respectively.
- Standard License Pricing: the price of a Standard license will decrease to $950 USD.
- Professional License Pricing: the price of a Professional license will remain the same but the license will support 5 rather than 6 agents.
- Enterprise License Pricing: the price of an Enterprise license will increase to $5500 USD.
- Additional Agent Pricing: additional agents will be offered in 10-packs at a price of $2500 USD. These packs are available on top of Enterprise licenses.
new pricing
The new pricing scheme for Pulse licenses is summarised in the table below. All prices are in USD.
| item | agents | description | price |
|---|---|---|---|
| pulse standard | 1 | server license + 1 year support | $950 |
| pulse professional | 5 | server license + 1 year support | $2500 |
| pulse enterprise | 15 | server license + 1 year support | $5500 |
| 10 agent pack | +10 | extends existing enterprise license | $2500 |
In line with these changes, renewal pricing is summarised below. Note that renewals of licenses purchased before the changes become effective will be treated specially, see the following section for details.
| item | description | price |
|---|---|---|
| pulse standard renewal | extends expiry date by 1 year | $475 |
| pulse professional renewal | extends expiry date by 1 year | $1250 |
| pulse enterprise renewal | extends expiry date by 1 year | $2750 |
| 10 agent pack renewal | add to enterprise renewal price | $1250 |
how will existing customers be affected?
Renewals of all existing licenses, including any purchased between now and the effective date, will be treated specially. This is to minimise the impact on existing customers. All existing customers will also be contacted individually to describe how the changes affect them.
For existing licenses, the following rules will apply:
- No Changes for 2010: for the next renewal of licenses expiring in the 2010 calendar year, no changes will be applied. Subsequent renewals, however, are subject to the changes below.
- Existing Standard Licenses: no changes will be applied. A renewal will continue to cost $750 USD, and the renewed license will allow 2 agents. Customers may, however, choose to step down to 1 agent and renew for $475 USD.
- Existing Professional Licenses: no changes will be applied. A renewal will continue to cost $1250 USD, and the renewed license will allow 6 agents.
- Existing Enterprise Licenses: the price increase will be capped at 17.5%. Thus, renewals for existing Enterprise licenses will cost $2350 USD. As noted above, this increase will also not be applied for the next renewal of licenses expiring in the 2010 calendar year.
- Custom Licenses: for users with a customised license, we will address each situation individually.
